Please Note:

From 2011-2016, we had an inspiration blog featuring nurseries, baby showers, parties, and portraits that were submitted to us by photographers, designers, and parents. We no longer accept submissions or post new blog content, but we have left the archive here for those who have saved this content, or for new readers looking for inspiration.

Vintage Book & Alphabet Birthday Party

Photographer Lisa Maksoudian wanted to create a party that was unique and personal for her daughter's first birthday, which resulted in this charming vintage book and alphabet themed birthday party. After having two boys, she decided to indulge in a pretty pink party for her little girl, but kept it toned down by incorporating cream, red, and burlap into the design. Lisa used vintage pieces from her personal collection to stage the food, cake, and display tables, while stacks of vintage red and pink books served as risers. Scrabble letters spelled out all of the birthday girl's nicknames from her first year. As the first birthday is a big celebration in their family, they rented a historical hall (perfect for the theme!) to fit all 100 guests.
