"It seems surreal to have just celebrated our daughter's first birthday party! Yet at the same time, we can scarcely remember life without her. Since we named her Violet, her whole life has been flower-themed by default, and her first birthday party was no exception! We have the most lovely watercolor print that says "Do you suppose she is a wildflower?" hanging in her room, and its colors and sentiment quickly became the theme of her party."
"As a focal point in our dining room, I strung a cheery paper banner from Shop Sweet LuLu across the ceiling. I also hung an assortment of colorful pastel tissue fans above the dessert and drink station on our small sideboard buffet."
"To decorate, I headed to the farmer's market and brought home a big bucket full of fresh summery flowers, which we arranged into many vases spread throughout the house. We hauled the dresser from Violet's nursery down to our living room to create a little welcoming area as guests arrived. We set out a book of her baby photos, her 'Violet Girl' BlaBla doll, and homemade jam favors. The hand knit doll is significant because we had taken a photo with Violet next to her doll each month of her babyhood."
"One week before the party, I made my first-ever batch of jam to thank everyone who helped us celebrate. I topped off the jars with cute monogram stickers and a little lace trim."
"We served cucumber mint water, lemonade, and orange mimosas along with a huge spread of brunch food, which is not pictured here because I was so busy pulling my underdone/overdone quiches out of the oven."
"My super talented sister-in-law made up for my less-than-stellar main courses, creating the most delicious and beautiful vanilla-lemon cake and cupcakes for the occasion! Bright cupcake flags added a playful punch to the trays of quickly disappearing cupcakes."
"Perhaps my favorite detail of the whole day, was a very simple purple floral crown that I created for Violet to wear. I was pleased to find that these crowns are not too difficult to make and I will definitely be making more in the future! We had such a fun day celebrating this big milestone for our baby girl!"
