The theme for this adorable baby shower all started with a nickname. When mom-to-be, Emily Thomas, Art Director for Southern Weddings Magazine, and her husband discovered their little one was just the size of a blueberry, it quickly became the sweet name they used for their baby. Eventually, it also inspired shower host, photographer Nancy Ray, to create a cute event with the theme. From the thoughtful array of pretty mini foods, to the fun craft activity, Emily and the guests were treated to the sweetest day. Shower details from Nancy Ray:
"When I found out the exciting news that Emily was expecting, I just knew I had to throw her a baby shower. Just a few months prior, she spent her time and creativity give me the same gift! Now that I have a little baby, it was time to return the favor.
"I immediately began scheming with Emily's sisters, and we decided on the theme of Blueberries. When Emily was just a few weeks pregnant, she and her husband called her growing baby 'blueberry' as a nickname when they discovered she was just that size. The name stuck while her sweet baby kept growing, and now all of her family and friends refer to her as 'blueberry'. It seemed the perfect theme for her shower!
"The activity was to paint horses to go into baby Blueberry's room. Emily grew up riding horses, and there just might be a hint of equestrian in Blueberry's nursery. We decided to plan the shower activity around something that the baby will love to play with and enjoy long term, that would also fit within the theme of her room.
"Emily's sisters and mom, all living out of town, swooped in and helped me execute the loveliest of showers. Kate prepared the amazing miniature-food menu, Kim decorated and provided many details, Mom provided baby-sitting, and I arranged with the local vendors. It was the perfect team, and we had so much fun loving on Emily and 'Blueberry!'"
