Guest Handprint Photobooth Backdrop

This project not only gives you a cool backdrop for your party photo booth, but it also serves as a guestbook! As guests arrive, have them "sign in" by placing their own handprints on the canvas. You'll have the perfect spot for photos, and after the party's over, hang it somewhere special and you have a creative keepsake for years to come.

What You Need

  1. Dowel Rod (36" or longer)
  2. Canvas (2 yards or more)
  3. Acrylic paint
  4. Paintbrush
  5. Sewing Machine or Hot Glue Gun
  6. Twine/rope
  7. Hands

  1. Iron the wrinkles out of your canvas.
  2. Then, iron the longer sides of your canvas an inch inward, and then another inch again. Then iron the shorter sides the same way, creating a nice clean line around the entire canvas.

  3. Sew a simple stitch around the canvas, or alternatively, hot glue the sides down.

  4. Fold the top of the canvas down a few inches and sew at the bottom of the fold, creating a pocket for your dowel rod.

  5. Now your canvas is ready for prints! Have paints ready for guests, and let each guest leave a few prints on the canvas. Make sure to assign each guest with a different color.

  6. Tie rope to each end of the rod to create a pennant-like hanging. As soon as it's dry, hang it up.

  7. Time for some photo booth fun! Have guests pose in front of the canvas for some special party keepsakes.

  8. When the party's over, the backdrop can be displayed in a child's room or playroom as a sweet little keepsake to remember their special day.
