Heart Thumbprint Necklace Gift Project for Kids

What You Need

  1. Oven Bake Clay
  2. Metallic Acrylic Paint
  3. Paintbrush
  4. Small Heart Shaped Cookie Cutter
  5. Rolling Pin
  6. Necklace Chains
  7. Jump Rings
  8. Bobby Pin
  9. Gift Box (optional)

  1. You will first need to cut or pull off a small piece of the oven bake clay.
  2. Roll out a small piece of the clay with a rolling pin (kids love this!)

  3. Have your child press his thumb print into the clay twice to make the shape of a heart.

  4. Use a small heart cookie cutter to cut out the heart shape.

  5. After you have cut out the heart shape, use a bobby pin to make a hole in the clay for the jump ring.
  6. Place the hearts in the oven at 275 for about 15 minutes. (Parents will do this step, of course!)

  7. When they are finished baking, let them cool then paint them with metallic acrylic paint. We used Martha Stewarts Metallic, Rose Gold, and Pearl Rose acrylic paints.
  8. Let the paint dry then attach the jump rings to the heart and use a necklace chain to finish them off!

  9. We used small jewelry boxes from the craft store and placed the necklaces inside. The perfect personalized gift for kids to make and give this holiday season!
