Winter Candyland Themed Birthday Party

For her son Alejandro's first birthday party, Janel Gonzalez of Mary Dann Wedding Planner & Party Coordinators wanted to create a memorable winter birthday party suitable for the holiday season, but without making it feel too much like a Christmas party. She stumbled on a party concept by Fresh Chick Designs that seemed perfect: "A Winter Candyland". Janel used adorable penguins throughout the party design. The tables featured some cute penguins from Cost Plus World Market converted into centerpieces by simply placing a glass cup inside. Friend Eddie Serna filled them with simple red and white flower arrangements accented with peppermint candy. Plenty of beautiful red poinsettias helped make the backyard more festive. We're so glad The Why We Love was there to capture so many great shots of this lovely little party!

Of course with a candyland theme, the candy and dessert tables were the focal point of the party. Janel filled the tables with sweet treats that evoked feelings of childhood. Guests also got to take home goody bags with hot chocolate and with enough room to fill with more candy. Before digging into the dessert bar, a kid-friendly menu was presented from Huntington Catering that included sliders, macaroni and cheese, and mini grilled cheese with tomato soup and left guests of all ages happy. The partygoers also had plenty of fun in store, including an inflatable bouncer, the photo booth, and riding toys. To see more from this party, be sure to stop by the full gallery!
