Little Stella's love of woodland animals and exploring for treasures outside inspired the theme for her adorable 2nd birthday party, designed and photographed by her mom Laura of Laurels and Stars Photography. Laura wanted to make the party personal and unique to Stella, bringing in a lot of items Stella herself had discovered outdoors into the decor, like a pinecone garland. The wooded areas around their home made for a great resource as well, from moss to acorns. Laura transformed the space into such a welcoming and fun forest scene! "I had a local florist create wildflower bouquets with flowers and grasses from the area to reflect the time of year (which was October) and they also provided the trees that we placed around the room to make it feel like you were in a forest. For the tables we used acorns that Stella found with jars of peanuts, cleverly labeled for the squirrels."
"The cake was also woodland themed and was created to look like a piece of wood. The cupcakes complimented the theme and colors."
"I brought the theme into the appetizers too, creating toadstools out of cherry tomatoes and string cheese, chocolate acorns made from small vanilla wafers and chocolate kisses, tree trunks, which were pretzel sticks, caterpillar kabobs, which were grapes with tiny chocolate kisses for eyes and I also made chocolate owls on a stick."
