Please Note:

From 2011-2016, we had an inspiration blog featuring nurseries, baby showers, parties, and portraits that were submitted to us by photographers, designers, and parents. We no longer accept submissions or post new blog content, but we have left the archive here for those who have saved this content, or for new readers looking for inspiration.

Pirate Themed Birthday Party

Captain Jack just turned three and his mom Misty Reeve of Mistypictures celebrated with this festive and fun pirate-themed party. It all started with the amazing "message in a bottle" invitations designed by Misty, complete with burnt edges and wax seals. She found the perfect venue at the West Edmonton Mall, where they have a replica of the Santa Maria. When guests arrived, they received a treasure map and boarded the ship in search of treasure: pirate hats, swords, eye patches, and tattoos. Misty crafted all of the pirate-y decor, like the cupcake flags crafted from cotton fabric, wire and Fabric Mod Podge. Guests went home with a little pirate booty as well with Little People Pirate Set party favors. To see more of these photos captured by Mistypictures, stop by the full gallery!
