Please Note:

From 2011-2016, we had an inspiration blog featuring nurseries, baby showers, parties, and portraits that were submitted to us by photographers, designers, and parents. We no longer accept submissions or post new blog content, but we have left the archive here for those who have saved this content, or for new readers looking for inspiration.

Pink and Blue Carousel Birthday Party

The historic carousel at the Santa Monica Pier made the perfect spot for Ava's carousel themed first birthday party, planned and designed by her mom, On to Baby member, Majell del Castillo Events. Majell wanted the event to be colorful vintage with a slight modern touch that was fun for all ages. After choosing the venue, she started on the invitation, which Etsy designer B Designs created to match the Santa Monica Pier venue. For table decor, Majell created centerpieces with patterned pinwheels placed in glass vases filled with pastel mini marshmallows.

Guests enjoyed carnival food favorites from a build-your-own nacho bar and a gourmet hot dog bar, along with crab deviled eggs and pancit, vegetable yakisoba noodles, and chorizo tacos. Dessert featured a delicious two-tiered fondant cake from Vanilla Bake Shop, topped with a hand made custom carousel cake topper by Ava's dad. He also created a canopy to go over the fully stocked dessert table, which was overflowing with homemade desserts including red velvet and dark chocolate salted caramel whoopie pies, caramel espresso dessert shots, and espresso muffins. 'Lette Macarons provided the beautiful french macarons. Beyond the yummy treats, guests also enjoyed unlimited carousel rides and a custom silhouette art party favor from Sylhouettes by Sylvia.
