Christin Wilson had a vision for a gender-neutral baby shower tea party shoot with a modern twist. She found inspiration in the "Victorian Modern" style of Seventh Tea Bar and created a striking event to match in palette of black, white, and vibrant yellow. There are so many creative and fun little details that tie into the theme, as you'll see below in the photos and in Christin's description of the day. So much inspiration here! Kate Noelle Photography captured it all so beautifully, and you can see all of the photos submitted in the full gallery. Read on for more details from Christin Wilson Events.
“I wanted silhouettes to be a big part of the shoot as they were used so often in the early 1900s. I started with using a top hat silhouette representing a baby boy (Little Mister) and a parasol silhouette representing a baby girl (Little Darling). I asked mum-to-be, Holly Clinard of Holly in Heels, to be the model. I had Holly and her husband’s, Trevor Clinard of Red 5 Social, silhouettes created to incorporate in the invites and paper goods designed by Typologie & Co. as well as décor pillows and mantel piece."
"I took advantage of the vibrant yellow within the venue and kept the florals and décor just as bright and modern. The table itself was simple yet had an eclectic/vintage feel by bringing in some vintage teacups and not having everything exactly the same."
"The dessert table was an element of the shoot that I adored. Decadence Candy & Dessert Styling brought in amazing desserts and custom cookies and utilized the top hat, parasol and baby silhouette stickers for the to-go bags and even wrapped the mousse spoons in matching washi tape to complete the look!"
"I also had brought in vintage children’s books with the idea to have each guest write on a 'baby wishes' sticker and place it on the inside of the book creating a timeless keepsake as well as a fun sign-in & guest activity."
”Instead of the traditional baby games at showers, I had the silhouettes be an activity & a fun favor for the guests to take home!”
”With a love of children’s classics based in a London setting like Mary Poppins, Alice in Wonderland and Peter Pan, I picked my favorite quotes from these stories and enlisted Saturday Morning Pancakes to create amazing tea towel guest favors and onesies as a gift for the mum-to-be. Saturday Morning Pancakes also created the amazing pillows of Holly & Trevor’s silhouettes (which I’m obsessed with!).
"I loved how every little detail brought out the bigger story of the modern, gender-neutral baby shower tea party. My favorite elements to this shoot were the custom silhouette pillows, the teapot centerpiece filled with bold colored flowers, Holly’s silhouette I framed for the mantel and being able to work with a photographer that not only is talented, but gets what you are looking to capture, like Kate Noelle Photography, makes the process much more enjoyable!"
