Please Note:

From 2011-2016, we had an inspiration blog featuring nurseries, baby showers, parties, and portraits that were submitted to us by photographers, designers, and parents. We no longer accept submissions or post new blog content, but we have left the archive here for those who have saved this content, or for new readers looking for inspiration.

Lilac, Gray, & Pink Baptism Reception

When Majell del Castillo's youngest daughter Ava was baptized, rather than buying a new dress, she used her eldest daughter's. To make it Ava's own style, a special silk headband with Swarovski crystal accents and a French netting overlay from Banner Boutique. It was this beautiful headpiece that actually served as the perfect inspiration for the overall event concept for this lovely event, designed by Majell del Castillo Events. For all the details on the event planning and details, see Majell's description below:

"My husband and I decided to host the baptism dinner reception at one of our favorite Thai restaurants, Coconut Bay. Ava's baptism reception had vintage touches with subtle modern details starting with the pocketfold invitation suite. I chose a soft & beautiful color palette of lilac, slate gray, white and a touch of pink for the reception. We had lilac-colored hand calligraphed escort cards placed within various white vintage frames of different style and sizes. Each table signage had different pictures of Ava from her newborn photo shoot, which made a great take home gift. I wanted alternating centerpieces so I bought white wooden candleholders of various heights from IKEA. They were topped off with glass votives wrapped with vellum, which I stamped with a medium-sized peony stamp and pink inkpad. I found a great tutorial online for that project. All the floral centerpieces sat in assorted milk glass compotes. Even the floral design was different for each centerpiece, which added texture in a non-cookie cutter way. Instead of favors we decided to donate money to the American Red Cross to help with the Japan Tsunami Disaster Relief.

"No party is complete without a dessert buffet table. We ordered various mini desserts and rented vintage pink and white cake platters and ruffled bowls from Sweet and Saucy. My husband built a backdrop for the dessert table. He wrapped the frame with gray fabric we bought at Joann's. I made a paper doily banner glued to satin lilac ribbon. The banner was pinned onto the backdrop to complete the vintage look."
