Henry's Nursery and Beautiful Newborn Session

Baby Henry and his minimal nursery

Photographer Kellie Kano shared this intimate newborn session and gorgeous nursery with us, and we have been excited to share it with from the first moment we saw it! Meet adorable baby Henry with his sweet parents Elissa and Peter in these stunning images by Kellie Kano. Henry's mom Elissa is also a designer with impeccable taste, so it is not surprising Henry also has such a lovely room, so light and airy. We had a hard time narrowing down the photos, so be sure to hop over to the full gallery before you go! Read on below for more about the nursery design from Elissa:

"When I designed my home office several years ago, I did so with the hope that it could easily (and affordably) be converted to a nursery in the future. I painted the walls a soothing (and gender neutral) pale gray and I purchased pieces that could used in any space and serve multiple functions. The white curtains and yellow armchair were a part of that design, as was the vintage white dresser once used to house office supplies."

"The zebra is probably my favorite part of the nursery. Years ago I spotted it at the antique store and immediately fell in love with its quirky charm. I thought it would be darling in a vintage inspired nursery, but I could not justify the cost, nor could I convince my partner that I needed an old wooden zebra (for any reason). I relented, but for the next few years, I would make occasional trips to the store to "visit" the zebra. It was always there, going unnoticed amid acres of furniture, fine china, artwork, and more. Once the booth renter even tried to dress the zebra up with a red bow for the holidays (still no takers). I'll be honest. When I found out I was pregnant, the zebra was one of my first purchases. And since I knew it had been for sale for two years, I was even able to haggle to get a better price. :)"

"The gallery wall above the dresser originally featured botanical prints and the letter E (for Elissa). When I learned I was expecting a boy, I used the gallery wall as a jumping off point for the nursery, keeping the existing frames and layout, but selecting new prints that would help our little boy learn more about his parents. As Peter is in the Navy and a scuba diver, I was very excited to find the little sailor boy, fish, and whale prints from Petit Collage. And because Peter and I are both world travelers, I thought a print reading "You are Going Places" would be perfect for our future adventurer! Once we selected the name Henry, I swapped out the E with an H!"

"Once the prints were selected, the rest of the room came together, piece by piece. I purchased floating shelves to hold my favorite childhood books and other pieces to reflect our heritage. Because Peter is Korean American, I added blocks with Korean characters, so that Peter could teach Henry the Korean alphabet. Because my family is Russian, I added my nesting dolls, including one I purchased on a visit to St. Petersburg. The globe was another nod to our love for travel and a fun way to teach Henry about his family tree."
