A woodland theme is such a great gender neutral baby shower idea, like this adorable party by Karin Shukartsi for her friend Penelope Oberhardt. Penelope asked for "something nature-like, simple, fresh, elegant, and gender neutral" and this theme made the perfect fit. Everything in the shower fit this idea while also being personal to Penelope. For example, the wine served was from the Santa Ynez Valley, the expecting daddy's favorite wine tasting area in California, and the wooden pedestals were created by Penelope's father, Howard Lewin, a woodworker and artist. More wooden accents came in the form of woodland animal toys accompanying succulent table centerpieces.
Guests enjoyed a spread of food all created by Penelope's mother and her mother's friends, and in fitting with the theme, it was all local, fresh, and organic. For dessert, a cake perfectly decorated by Sweet Lady Jane to match the darling invitations by The Gray Attic awaited them. They even took some matching cuteness home with sugar cookies by A Dozen Eggs. They returned the love at a special wishing tree, where guests wrote well wishes for the baby on leaf shaped tags. So sweet! See more of this baby shower over in the full gallery.
