This week we have more Fall inspiration to share with you, starting with this beautiful "Lil Pumpkin" themed baby shower designed with love by Megan Lord of Pencil Events! Expecting mama Maggie Kate had requested "something with pumpkins" for the shower, giving Megan the inspiration to create this cozy, warm event with the pumpkin theme. We're particularly in love with the yarn details, pumpkin potluck, and of course those little pumpkin centerpieces! Read on below for all the details from Megan throughout the post, then stop by the full gallery to see all of the lovely images captured by Emily Tong Photography:
"When momma-to-be Maggie Kate requested “something with pumpkins” for the baby shower that would welcome her first child, I just knew that warmth and coziness were a MUST! I designed the shower with a kind of modern domesticity in mind—hoping for equal parts mod and rustic. Maggie Kate herself balances modern intellectual feistiness with classic domestic artistry. Ever the hostess, Maggie Kate deserved a shower where she could both literally and figuratively relax and put up her feet! I envisioned a shower that was boldy feminine and befitting of Maggie Kate’s expected 'lil’pumpkin'."
"Guests were greeted at the entryway of the classic Bowdoinham Grange Hall with persimmon pashminas and a note that encouraged them to select one and swaddle themselves! All the ladies LOVED it! On their way into the hall, they shared with one another their favorite ways to tie scarves—necessary accessories in Maine!"
"Guests had been invited to enter a pumpkin potluck baking contest—we received delectable submissions like curried pumpkin soup and pumpkin ginger cookies! YUM YUM YUM!"
"A grand luncheon table set with antique candle sticks, pink ombre pumpkins, flowers at each place setting, and wooden frames wrapped in yarn greeted an excited Maggie Kate."
"As ladies arrived, they were ushered to a craft table where they each painted a wooden block for the baby girl. The project inspired much giggling and bonding of new friends. The blocks are a precious and lasting reminder of the love of Maggie Kate’s community of women!"
"During and after lunch, ladies competed for cozy skeins of yarn by playing games such as Name that Tune (a playlist consisting entirely of songs named for girls like ‘Help Me Rhonda’ and ‘Runaround Sue’) and Leave “Baby” in the Corner (a twist on the clothespin game where guests lose their clothespin if they use the word “baby”…only we used yarn pompons instead of clothespins).
"After lunch, the hostess of the shower led a collaborative writing activity whereby the group created little tales of adventure and intrigue sure to be had by this new little girl. As Maggie Kate read them all aloud, we laughed and cried! It was so sweet to sit and enjoy all the possibilities awaiting this sweet new life! Maggie Kate’s mother, Phyllis, is a school teacher and wonderful storyteller. So, after lunch, the ladies settled into a storytime arrangement around a comfy chair to open presents and enjoy the many storybooks selected as gifts for Maggie Kate and her baby! After the ladies enjoyed mini Jack-B-Little pumpkins filled with pumpkin pie gelato from a beloved local gelaterie, The Gelato Fiasco, the celebration closed with a dramatic reading from one of the beloved new children’s books. We shared many hilarious and tender moments throughout! We could not have asked for a more beautiful space, a more gorgeous day, or a more lovely group of women with which to celebrate Maggie Kate’s precious bundle!"
