Meet Eleanor Pearl! She's the daughter of Emily Walters of emmy-ray design studio who designed the most fun and vibrant space for Eleanor to call home. A bold palette of teal, pink, and gold with graphic punches of black and white make this room unforgettable. Emily used patterns in polka dots, stripes, and chevron along with a mix of fabulous antique pieces and new contemporary items. What we love most of all is the creative work Emily put into the room, from the whimsical mixed media dog prints (SO fun!) to the handcrafted yarn mobile. This room is colorful, lively, and so sweet. Check out the bottom of this post for a full description of both the nursery planning and the newborn shoot, then of course you need to see the full gallery of all the beautiful photos by Jana Marie Photography!
From Emily Walters: "I'm so excited to share our little girl, Eleanor Pearl's nursery and newborn session. We live in a 100 year old house in Kansas City. My husband actually grew up in this home, and we've spent years making it our own. When my husband and I found out we were having our first baby we were of course overjoyed. Our guest room was already a bright teal blue color, and it was the perfect space to convert into a nursery. The teal could work for either a boy or girl so I started gathering inspiration for both. I knew we wanted to keep the blue, and add pops of graphic black and white. We found out we were having a little girl, so I brought corals, pinks, peaches, and golds into the mix as well. I wanted things to be modern and of course colorful.
"Polka dots, stripes, and chevron patterns are used throughout the space, but I also added in some nostalgic touches, like the antique chest, and gold shelf, both were handed down from my grandmother. Ellie has quite a collection of stuffed animals already including some from when I was a kid. I did lots of hand made projects to make the space extra special for our little girl including the curtains, adding gold chevron paper to the bookshelf, sewing pillows, making pom poms, the gold polka dot wall, the mixed media dog prints above the crib, crocheting a striped blanket, and creating the yarn mobile. The room is bright and colorful, just what we wanted for our little girl.
"For our newborn session we wanted to capture us together as a family in the space we created for our little girl. Eleanor's dad loves to read to her every night so we wanted to make sure and get a picture of them sharing a sweet moment together. A new favorite past time includes kissing and cuddling in her rocking chair. I hope she'll love the room we made for her as she grows up!"
