Please Note:

From 2011-2016, we had an inspiration blog featuring nurseries, baby showers, parties, and portraits that were submitted to us by photographers, designers, and parents. We no longer accept submissions or post new blog content, but we have left the archive here for those who have saved this content, or for new readers looking for inspiration.

Abram & Madeline's Twin Nursery

Twin Nursery

Designing a room for a boy and girl twin pair can be a challenge, but mama Allison Wollenhaupt of Allison Marie Photography did such a great job for her babies Abram and Madeline. She kept the base a neutral gray, then added pops of green, pink, and orange. Her goal was to create a cheerful, whimsical space where she would like to spend time, too. Lots of DIY projects, including giving an antique dresser a makeover with yellow paint and creating the cutest handmade mobiles, made the room extra special. Read on for more details from Allison, then be sure to check out the full gallery to see all of the photos!

"Many of the pieces in the room are DIY. I was on bed rest from 26-35 weeks in my pregnancy, so I wasn't able to go shop for the room like I had hoped. Looking back, I love that I couldn't, because I really cherish all the handmade details.

"The series of 5 prints on the wall above the cribs is one of my favorite things about the room. A friend of mine threw me a wonderful baby shower, and her husband illustrated these little prints for the shower invitation. The minute I saw the invite, I knew I had to display it somehow in the nursery! The first print says “Classic Pairs aren’t born very often”, and then the next three are famous pairs – Jack & Jill, Raggedy Ann & Andy, Dick & Jane, and then the last one is Baby Boy & Baby Girl Wollenhaupt."
